Echoes of Fire
by Suzanne Wright
Series: Mercury Pack #4

They may not be made for each other, but animal instincts are impossible to ignore.

Madisyn Drake is a rare breed of cat shifter…a loner, unpredictably wild, and emotionally distant. A recent betrayal has left her ready to sharpen her claws on the next man she sees…until a prowling wolf with steel-gray eyes and a brooding dark edge challenges her distrust. No matter how fully he satisfies her touch-hunger, Madisyn’s not ready to open up again, even if it is oh so gratifying.

Bracken Slater has earned his reputation as an indomitable predator. Once broken by grief and guilt, he is feeling alive again, thanks to the heady scent of this independent feline. Madisyn isn’t interested in joining an unfamiliar pack, so convincing her that they’re meant for each other is going to take more than branding her beautiful neck. But when threats from both their pasts take shape, their unexpected destiny may be the only thing that can save them.

I am a huge fan of Suzanne Wright’s and love both the Phoenix and Mercury Pack series. They are all one click for me so I knew this was going to be one that I read. Bracken has been one of my favorite characters and I am so thrilled that eh got his own book finally.

After such a heartbreaking loss of his family being killed in the last book, I could not be happier that Bracken is pushing beyond it and living life. It would have been too easy to have fall into a deep depression and get lost in the mix. I do think that his loss and the love he had from his family is one of the reasons he accepts Madisyn as easily as he does. At least once he realizes what she is to him.

As far as Madisyn goes I am so thrilled to finally know what kind of shifter she is. I’m not telling either in case you haven’t read the book yet. Although I do admit I had to look them up. She has spent so much of her life alone that when she discovers Bracken is her mate she doesn’t trust that he wants her for any other reason. She doesn’t even think he likes her. She stays true to herself which is great. The way their relationship develops makes things easier on them as a couple than it did any of the other I think. I’m thrilled that Shiloh wasn’t Bracken’s mate too. I like her but she just didn’t seem right for him.

I can’t wait for Eli and Dominic’s stories to come out. Although I would love if Cain got his own story. He doesn’t fit into any one pack but he does have a special connection with one of the little girls. He protects and watches over her. I bet his story would be amazing considering everything thinks he is crazy.

I absolutely LOVE Shifter Paranormal Romances, and Suzanne Wright’s books have been on my TBR list for a while now. Hopefully, I’ll be able to read a couple of her books this year. Great review!
