This is my second book of this series and I will tell you that you can certainly read them out of order. There are some aspect of the story that carried over from the previous but not enough to be confused or not know what is going on. In fact if I hadn’t read the previous I wouldn’t have known anything had carried over from it. Carson McNeill meets his match in stunt woman Emma Layton. Can I just say that I love that Emma is a stunt woman? Normally a character with a name like Emma would be delicate and maybe a little fragile. She wouldn’t have a job like that of a stunt woman. Emma loves her job but doesn’t know as much about horses as she would have liked.

All I could think when I heard that “Okay, safety standards is what we’re calling it now?” Sorry I apparently have a dirty mind and went right there. Carson steps up and insists that Emma stays in his home when he discovers that her abusive ex is getting out of jail. That leads the pair to have to take a closer look at their feelings for one another. That is just the tip of the iceberg of what is happening this story and I have to tell you that I enjoyed every second from page one to the very last page.

Then she tipped her face up to his. She was close enough to see him well despite the darkness. His eyes locked on hers for an instant—like two stars close up. And then his lips claimed hers.
