Slow Cooker Red Skinned Mashed Potatoes

February 6, 2019Rita

We love potatoes in our home. I’m talking we can have them every day of the week. There is just something so wonderful about them. Another thing that I love is using my slow cooker to  get dinner ready. I am busy most of the day with work, the kids, and just everything else.

Wash the potatoes good and then put them in the crock pot.

Next you put everything but the milk and ¾ stick of butter in a crock pot. Turn that sucker on HIGH for 5 hours.

When you the 4 hour mark, take a knife and cut potatoes into chunks (while still in the slow cooker.) Now cook another hour.

Okay, now at hour 5 you take a potato masher to begin to mash the potatoes with the liquid in the slow cooker.

Now just add milk and ¾ stick of butter and mash until desired consistency is reached. Lower the slow cooker temp to warm while you finish up everything else.

You will have the best mashed potatoes trust me! I do this during the holidays when I don’t have room on the stove top and need to get as much done at the same times as I possibly can.

This sounds very easy! I actually think on high mine would burn, not sure though with no liquid added. I would add the butter to them, but then we are butter fanatics before the were fully cooked. I wonder how well I Idaho (white) potatoes would do? I am going to try this.

I made terrible mashed potatoes! I tried instant pot mashed potatoes last night (not this recipe, but similar) and just can’t figure out how to get them to be non-gluey. They tasted fine but looked very unappetizing. Yours look great.

New slow cooker recipes are always welcome. Mashed potatoes are a favorite and these look and sound great. Awesome comfort food especially in this kind of weather when a delicious, filling meal to warm you up is just the ticket.
